PROJECT BRIEF.

On Look is a household object that is intended to help people who overuse or are addicted to phones or laptops practice a healthy lifestyle. 

By dropping small silicone eyes, On Look interrupts you from using digital devices for after a period of time. Utilizing this interactive feature, On Look is designed to give you breaks that your body needs. It encourages users to get up and move during a long use of a phone/ laptop with vibration and visual reminders. If the user ignores the reminder, On Look will drop eyes which may jump around the table. The PIR sensor on the top will notice when the user physically stands up and puts back the little eyes. At that time, On Look will reset and provide a little treat for encouragement.

MY ROLE.

Conducted user research and user interviews to define the issue and potential needs from target users. 

Created sketches and handmade rough models to develop ideas and explore solutions. Finalized the idea based on focused models and storyboards. 

Developed the 3D model of On Look product using Rihno 5. Utilized 3D printer, laser cutter and silicone casting to develop the Hi-fi prototype. 

Engineered the final prototype with C++ using Arduino Uno. 

Designed an Electronic Pet Game App as a supplement feature of On Look to allow users have achievement and compete with peers.

As Herbert Simon states, “Everyone designs who devises courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred "ones.” Therefore, the implication is that the nature of design is to be directed towards shaping an improved future based on what we know today and where we want to be tomorrow.
